So, my 3 year old Huawei GT 2 stopped sending phone notifications (was working otherwise with the same amazing battery life) and I started to look out for some options. I never quite liked the default option for iPhone users – Apple watch (high price, low battery life, prefer circular dials). The Huawei/Honor is not in a great state (especially in India) and so did not want to commit to them. Finally ended up at Amazfit’s website and was happy with their iOS support. Their GTR, GTS models were good but the T Rex was what I always wanted like the Casio G-Shocks.
The watch is a marvel. It has an outstanding battery life. They claim 24 days (can you believe it) on normal use. I have used it a bit more than normal (wearing it even at night to track sleep) for the last 11 days and have 40% battery left still (have not charged after the first time to try and get this data). It can withstand completely submerged under 10m of water, frozen under ice, out in space, dropping throwing and people even tried driving a car over it. Now, I am a huge fan of such devices which are built to last and it serves my requirements perfectly. So got this for 15.2k (after discount). It is available in other colors as well (black, khakhi) but I chose the green one. It has several features which are considered must have today like step counting, watch faces, blood oxygen, heart rate monitoring, sleep monitoring, all types of exercises. Personally I was happy with this iPhone app and the notifications from phone coming in without any issues and ability to turn on/off notifications to watch per app.
