San Diego beckons

No-oooooooooo!!! Not again. I am going to miss my daughter’s birthday for the second consecutive year. Well ‘kadamai azhaikuthu’. So no other choice. On the positive side I am getting another camera and planning to go to Sea World too (Last time when I was in Irvine, I gave Sea World a miss, postponing it for another time and it has been a wise decision). But all the fun only after the successful completion of the reason I am here.

Coorg Trip

It has been 4 years since I came to Bangalore but I have never been out touring even with so many options around bangalore. We were never comfortable with bus travels and hiring a taxi too was not an interesting option either. All these changed when we got our ‘Estilo’ and I have been impatiently waiting for a blast as soon as I got my hands on it. In less than 6 months of our ownership of Estilo ‘Coorg’ was planned on the Easter weekend. We initially started with Ooty, but a good suggestion from our neighbour changed the destination …

India Victorious

At the end of the a tour which had a lot of drama, controversies, hatred and some excellent Cricket, India came out champions in the One day Series (India – Australia – Srilanka) and won the first two finals. It was dramatic and an extremely nervous end (Australian run chase). I watched the last 8 overs live and it was a nail biting finish. But then Indians pulled it off and have sent a strong message to the Australians. Tendulkar helped the cause with his 42nd hundred and may be his 32nd nineties. Ishant Sharma did exceedingly well and I …

Tata Nano – History is made

It has not been often that I follow a news for long with such unadulterated passion. The 1 lakh car has been one of them. I had read every conceivable article, magazine reports, rumors and predictions of the car, including the parts that will be outsourced and to whom and the innovations required to meet the cost factor. Meanwhile there had been a lot of setbacks for Ratan and his team including the protests by farmers, mockery style statements issued from competitors questioning the mere possibility of it and almost everyone jumping in to say that 1 Lakh price target …

Robotic Rajni

After the super duper hit ‘Sivaji’ it has now been confirmed (ET and Rediff) that Rajni and Shankar are teaming up for ‘Robot’ (name might change later). The only thing that made me sad was that I was expecting Kamal to do it. But Rajni has his own class and let us hope that this turns out to be the best hit ever in India. It will be a science fiction movie costing a whooping 100 crores (costliest movie in India) and is said to be the dream movie of Shankar. I am damn sure that writer ‘Sujatha’ will be …

Beijing [FT]

A few things intrigue us from our childhood and ‘The Great Wall’ was one such thing for me. It has always been my wish to lay my foot on it one day and so when I got an official travel offer I made up my mind to visit it somehow. But it turned out that my travel had to be for just a few days and so I just had one Sunday (the day of my arrival in China) to make it to the wall. Undeterred I made a plan to visit it as soon as I landed. My flight …

Mileage – Before First Service

Our Estilo is giving us a mileage of around 12 per km before the first service. The first service was done at 600+ kms much to the surprise of many (for a first time car owner and for one who learnt it after buying the car 600 kms is a bit too much). Waiting for the mileage to improve after the service. Let me see.

Canon Powershot S2 IS

Who would in his right mind buy another digicam even before the first he bought had not celebrated a birthday. I did. When I was sent to US on my first trip aboard, I made up my mind to get the Canon Powershot S2 IS. It is an awesome camera. It has 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom. Wow and I couldn’t resist. This time my wife was a bit sceptical but she knows me well. So it was a unanimous decision and I got the beauty * It has 12x Optical Zoom and what makes it special is that the …

Canon Powershot A510

My hunt for a good digital camera started way long back when Canon were having A75 models. I think that should be in 2004. I fell for Canon Powershot S1 IS, a model with 10x Optical Zoom and some great features, but since it was way too costly (was retailing for 40k in India) it was out of my reach and I settled for the entry level A series. Even then I could not make myself believe that it is worth buying a Camera for over 10k. I was waiting for my friend to travel to US to get the …
