Five Steps to Financial Freedom
- DEBT: Get rid of high interest debts like credit card debt, then personal loans, then car loans. Ideally, get rid of all debts.
- INSURANCE: Get term life insurance (25–35× annual expenses) and a health insurance floater plan for your entire family that can cover major procedures.
- EXPENSE < INCOME: Keep your expenses as low as possible while still being happy. Saving 50% of your income would be a great target.
- INVEST: Put half of savings into PPF/VPF/FD and the other half into Index Mutual Funds (Direct) or Index ETFs. Easy to start even on apps like PayTM Money.
- CONGRATS: Relax and allow the money to grow until it becomes at least 35× your annual expenses. You are financially free!
