I have a friend

I love this poem by Charles Hanson Towne. He wrote it decades ago but it still fits well in our time too. I use this poem sent as an email to threaten by friends to be in touch..     Around the corner I have a friend,     In this great city that has no end;     Yet days go by, and weeks rush on,     And before I know it a year is gone,     And I never see my old friend’s face,     For life is a swift and terrible race.     He knows I like him just as …

Thank you very much!!

Today morning I had to go to Koramangala for some personal work. I met Mr. Ram Mohan and came out of his house. My bike was parked over a cement slab on the pavement and I was having difficulty in getting it down on the road. Just then a woman came begging for some alms. She should be close to 50 and was looking like any other beggar that we see in India. Since I had already started moving my bike down the slab, it was difficult for me to get to my purse. But I usually try my best …

I hope everyone of you remember the first time you were on board a flight or atleast expect the day when it will happen. Got a Digicam

Finally, I got a digicam. I will not be able to forget the date and manner in which I got it. I have been wishing to lay my hands on one for 2 years now. It started with some some information I got for Canon Powershot S1 while I was browsing. Then I landed on dcresource.com and dpreview.com both excellent sites for camera review. I read a lot about the S1 and I was willing to buy it. But it was selling for 25k (if got in US) and a staggering 40k here. I was not prepared for it mentally …

Check Mate

After a looooooong gap, I had the chance to participate in a Chess tournament conducted as part of the annual day celebrations at Broadcom. I participated only in Chess as it would be conducted only in weekdays and not in weekends when I would be in Pondicherry. 16 players had given their names including me. In the first round, I was up against Ramki. We tossed and he got white. He is a senior manager and was also playing really well. The game was getting ready for a nail-biting finish when he received calls for a meeting. That did have …

Trigged by a Failure

All things require a beginning and this blog began when I lost my free neopages account. Not that it was because of a mistake from my side, but rather because the college student, Roy who was maintaining it had called it the day for neopages when he finished his studies. Fair enough!!!.Then I got a mail today from Sheikh boy, stating that he had started blogging on blogger http://regal-sivas-regal.blogspot.com and so I thought why not switch to something like this. After all it does not matter where our site is but what it does contain. I will try my best …
